1. Training goals

This major cultivates high-quality senior specialized application-oriented talents who can meet the needs of social and economic development in the 21st century with comprehensive development of moral, intellectual and physical, systematically mastering the basic theories, basic knowledge and basic skills of computer science and technology, having strong practical ability, good humanistic literacy, collaboration ability and learning ability, and be able to use computer intelligent control and its application or network planning and design and having innovative spirit in teaching, application development and project management in related fields.

 

2. Training specifications and requirements

It mainly includes the specific requirements that students should meet in terms of knowledge, ability, and quality.

Knowledge requirements

1). The necessary basic knowledge of mathematics and physics, basic knowledge of computer hardware, basic knowledge of computer expertise.

2). Have basic knowledge of software development and design.

3). Master the theories and methods of control, optimization and scheduling disciplines.

4). Master the basic theories and methods of artificial intelligence.

5). Master the basic theories, professional knowledge and design methods of network engineering and technology. (Network direction)

6). Have the foreign language knowledge to use English proficiently to read professional original documents.

7). Master natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, and understand computer-related laws and regulations.

skill requirements

Have the ability to maintain computer system equipment.

1). Have the application ability to engage in computer technology services, development and management.

2). Have the necessary software system analysis, design, testing and maintenance capabilities for software engineers.

3). Have the ability to analyze, design and develop computer hardware interface systems.

4). Possess the relevant ability of artificial intelligence and computer intelligent control design.

5). Have the ability to carry out network planning and design. (Network direction)

6). Have strong foreign language expression skills and the ability to read the original professional literature.

7). With strong innovation ability, the ability to quickly track new technologies and market demand.

8). Master the basic methods of document retrieval and data query, and have the ability to obtain information.

Quality requirements

1). Basic qualities

Political quality: high ideological and political quality and moral quality; strong awareness of the rule of law, integrity and industry policies and regulations.

Ideological and moral: good professional ethics, professionalism, strict self-discipline and perseverance.

Humanistic literacy: higher humanistic quality and humanistic caring spirit. Have accurate language and writing ability.

Physical and mental quality: a sound personality, strong social adaptability and innovation ability, and a healthy body, with the ability to withstand external pressure.

Main Discipline: Computer Science and Technology

Main courses: Computer Composition Principles, Database Principles and Applications, Operating Systems, Discrete Mathematics, Computer Networks, Microcomputer Principles and Interface Technology, Software Engineering, JAVA Programming, SCM Principles and Applications, Phthon Programming and Artificial Intelligence and other courses.

 

 

 

 

School of Computer and Information Engineering of Jiangxi Normal University was originally known as the Computer Teaching and Research Group of Mathematics Department of Jiangxi Normal College. The school went through four stages of development, including Department of Computer Science (May,1985-Dec,1994), School of Mathematics and Computer Science (Jan,1995-June,1996)£¬College of Computer Science and Technology (July,1996-July,2003), and School of Computer and Information Engineering (August, 2003-now).

Taking teaching as the central task, the school adheres to “strengthen foundation, develop skills and enhance quality” as the target of fostering talent. It insists on quality and characteristics as the fundamental of the school. Currently, the school has four undergraduate specialties: Computer Science and Technology, Computer Science and Technology (Teacher Education Specialty), Network Engineering, and Internet of Things. There are two master's degree programs in the first class discipline: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering. There are two domains of master's degree in engineering: Software Engineering and Computer Technology; and one master's degree program in education—Modern Educational Technology. Besides, the school has a Doctor’s degree program (out of the Specialty Catalogue)—Chinese information processing. Computer Science and Technology is the brand specialty among the undergraduate majors and the key discipline in Jiangxi Province, which was also selected into Jiangxi Outstanding Engineer Training Program and Professional Comprehensive Reform Project. The specialties of Computer Science and Technology and Network Engineering won the first and second place in 2016’s comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate major in Jiangxi Province. Through strengthening curriculum construction and deepening educational reform, the school has formed a multi-level, multi-professional, multi-modal educational pattern. The teaching level and the quality of graduates are continuously improving. The school has trained more than 6000 students in a variety of specialties over the past three decades. The school has cultivated a great deal of talents of computer science and computer education who are competent in both theory and practice with good moral characters, solid knowledge foundations, excellent skills and creative spirits for the country and society.  Graduates are highly praised by the employers with their solid knowledge, dedication and down-to-earth manner.

The school attaches great importance to discipline construction by adhering to promoting teaching and development with scientific research. So far, it has established many teaching and research platforms, including the High-level Engineering Research Center of Things and Intelligent Computing of Jiangxi Provincial Colleges and Universities, the Software Science and Technology Center of Jiangxi Provincial Colleges and Universities, Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory for High-performance Computing Technology, Jiangxi Provincial Distributed Computing Engineering and Technology Center, the Innovation Base for Graduate Education of the Discipline of the Computer Science and Technology in Jiangxi province. Besides, the school has participated in the construction of the Collaborative Innovation Center of 2011, providing provincial teacher quality monitoring, assessment and service based on big data. On the whole, it has formed a disciplinary structure with distinctive characteristics and advantages based on provincial key disciplines. Over the past five years, the school has undertaken more than 40 national scientific research projects and received over 10 scientific research awards at ministerial and provincial level.

The school takes special focus on the faculty development, and has an eminent faculty with noble morality and close cooperation. Presently, there are 100 faculty staffs. Among them are 84 full-time teachers, 13 professors, 42 associate professors, 3 doctoral advisors, 32 doctoral degree holders, 2 national model teachers, 2 provincial renowned teachers, 1 provincial model teacher, 4 young provincial academic leaders, and 1 provincial model of education worker. The school now has a provincial-level teaching team and 6 excellent free to share curriculums. The past five years have seen the publication of 8 excellent textbooks for national “Eleventh Five-Year” and “Twelfth Five-Year” plan. Meanwhile, the school has received provincial teaching achievement award with 3 First Prizes and 2 Second Prizes.

The school constantly improves the teaching and learning conditions. The space for teaching, administration and labs has been continuously extended from the Yifu Building in the Qingshanhu Lake Campus to the Xiansu Building in the Yaohu Lake Campus. Other school conditions have also been improved and modernized. At present, the school has laboratories with a total area of ​​3,000 square meters, including laboratory of comprehensive software, laboratory of hardware, laboratory of network engineering and security, laboratory of embedded system, laboratory of Internet of things, laboratory of hardware maintenance. Additionally, self-managed laboratory and room is intended for students’ innovation and extracurricular activities. The continuous improvement of school-running conditions lay a solid foundation for its steady and rapid development.
