The College of Electronics and Information, Nanchang Institute of Technology, was founded in September 1999 and was independently established in May 2005, with nearly 1,500 students. In 2019, the college was awarded the honorary title of "advanced collective of education system in the whole province" by the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and the Department of education, which is the only private university unit to win this honor.
Adhering to the concept of "keep up with the trend of artificial intelligence era and building characteristic specialty clusters", at present ,there are five undergraduate majors, such as Robotics Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering (arts and sciences), Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated Systems, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, and three specialties, such as Industrial Robotics, Electrical Automation Technology, Electronic Information Engineering Technology, forming a professional system supported by intelligent engineering, big data, cloud computing and other disciplines. Among them, the major of Robot Engineering and Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated system is the first one in the province.
The major of Electronic Information Engineering is a provincial characteristic specialty construction project, and the teaching team of electronic information engineering is a provincial teaching team.
The electrical and electronic experiment center is a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, and the introduction to electrical information specialty is a provincial excellent resource sharing course.
The college has been selected into the first batch of "industry university cooperation, collaborative education" reform projects of the Ministry of education in 2019. Huawei's "front line engineer" training curriculum system has been fully introduced to cultivate high-quality talents widely recognized by the industry.
There are 85 full-time and part-time teachers in the college, including 55 professors and associate professors, 9 teachers who are studying for doctorial degree, 46 teachers with industry or engineering background,1 expert who enjoys the special allowance of the State Council, 1 former outstanding teacher of the whole army, 1 teacher who honored as a model worker in the province, 2 experts who enjoy the special allowance of the provincial government, 1 person who is an engineering expert of 100 million people in the province, 2 provincial famous teachers and 2 young and middle-aged backbone teachers, and 5 teachers with master's degree guidance qualification.
The total value of all kinds of teaching instruments and equipment of the school is 15.68 million yuan, and the construction area of the experiment and training base is 18600 square meters. The college actively constructs the school enterprise cooperation mode, and has cooperated with Shenzhen Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., TCL mobile communication Co., Ltd. and other enterprises to establish 27 off campus practice and training bases.
In recent years, college teachers have won the National Science and Technology Progress Award and other national and provincial awards more than 30 items, published SCI, SSCI, EI, CPCI search and CSCD, CSSCI, Chinese core journal papers more than 100, published 29 teaching materials, bear more than 40 national and provincial scientific research projects. In 2014, KUAN Mingxing, our researcher, was successfully approved by our institute first National Natural Science Foundation project – the study on the separation of the variation components of the aorta, pulmonary artery and ventricular impedance from the changes of the mixed impedance on the chest surface.
At present, the college has set up a number of student associations such as the Electronic Technology Innovation Association to carry out various activities on a regular basis, which has enriched the students' extracurricular cultural life. In recent years, more than 400 students in our college have won individual awards of Provincial Electronic Science and technology innovation activities, national mathematical modeling competition, college students' innovation and entrepreneurship competition, etc. In 2019, in China's "Internet Plus" student innovation and entrepreneurship competition, faculty members won the national bronze award and the provincial silver award, becoming the first private university project to win the national award in five years since the event was launched in 2017.Student ZHOU Maliang was awarded the honorary title of "National Excellent Communist Youth League Member" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, HUANG Shihao and LIU Xuexuan were awarded the title of "Star of Self-Strength of Chinese University Students" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the National Union of Students, and the General Branch of the College League was awarded the honorary title of "General Branch of the May Fourth Red Flag League".
