Founded in August 2003, The College of Media and Communications (hereinafter referred to as “The School”) aims at inheriting human civilization and cultivating innovative talents with the core value of “spreading Chinese inspiration and shaping the future of our country". The concept of education is characteristic of “Theoretical Basis, Overall Competency and Innovation Spirit" and it is committed to fostering talents of blending theory and practice for our society and the whole industry.
There are 98 faculty staff members, including 29 full and associate professors and 28 lecturers. And more than 2,300 undergraduates and junior-college students. It now offers 7 undergraduate majors, among which Radio & TV Production, Art of Broadcasting and Hosting, Network & New-media, Advertisement, Radio and TV Broadcasting are regularly-enrolled undergraduate majors; Advertisement Design and Production, Film Production and Photography & Video Technology are junior-college majors. The school adheres to the integration of theoretical foundation and skill competence with centre on teaching quality, so in recent years the competitiveness of the major of Radio & TV Production has been ranked as the 9th among counterparts in the country.
The college is the usual listing place of Jiangxi Provincial Language Society and Jiangxi Provincial Communication Society. And it has a new-media research center and eight professional studios, including media research studio, film and TV production center, graphic advertisement design studio, 3D animation studio, advertisement creation studio, network communication studio, video and audio studio and documentary studio etc.
The college has always attached great importance to disciplinary construction especially in scientific research and academic routine work. For example, Professor XU Jialu , a famous linguist and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress, has been invited to be the academic consultant of the key research, compilation and publication project under The China Book Prize undertaken by the School. In addition, Professor LI Rulong , academic degree committee member of The State Council, disciplinary leader and doctoral supervisor, has been invited to be the honorary professor of the School. More than 40 experts and scholars with senior professional titles from the Publicity Department of the Provincial Communist Party Committee, The Provincial Bureau of Press and Publication, Jiangxi Daily Press, Jiangxi Website, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Jinggangshan Youth Training Base of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, Fudan University, Xiamen University, Capital Normal University, Hunan Normal University and other institutions are invited as academic consultants or visiting professors of the School. In recent years, the faculty of our college has published more than 180 academic papers, more than 20 books, and more than 10 scientific research projects were approved at the national and provincial levels.
Now The college shas established a long-term cooperation with key news media outlets and has delivered many media talents for the society. Our graduated students possessing solid theoretical knowledge, excellent professional skills and rich practical experience, are serving government departments, higher institutions, radio and TV stations, publishing group, media and advertising companies with outstanding achievements.
