Nanchang Institute of Technology is a regular higher-education institution authorized by the Ministry of Education, which has the right to confer bachelor's degree. The campus covers an area of over 4600 mu(a unit of area, one mu = 0.0667 hectares). Our institutes has two campuses, the Changbei Campus (more than 400 mu) and the Hero Campus (more than 4,000 mu). At present, it has school buildings of 1.19 million square meters, library collection of 2.65 million books, with educational assets amounted to 1.8 billion yuan and teaching instruments and equipment valued of 17.6 million yuan. The enrolled student nearly reached to 30,000 persons. The institute has set up 16 schools, 5 specialized departments and 9 training bases.

Now the school has 1,338 full-time teachers of whom 35.6% have associate-senior professional titles or above, and 51.7% have master degrees or higher. Among the full-time teachers of the school, there are 32 doctoral and master tutors, 9 doctors, 10 enjoyed the special allowance awarded by The State Council, 1 provincial engineering expert of new century talents, 1 provincial famous teacher, 2 provincial young and middle-aged academic leaders, 19 provincial young and middle-aged backbone teachers and 2 provincial teaching teams. Among the school-level leaders, there are two members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial CPPCC, four former presidents (secretaries) ever served for the provincial key universities and four doctors. Mr. Ziyuan Ouyang, chief scientist of China's lunar exploration project and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was appointed as the honorary president. Mr.WANG Zishen, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences was appointed as the director of the Honorary Academic Committee, and Mr. Ping Shi, chief designer of K8 aircraft and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed as the director of the Honorary Disciplinary Construction Committee.
The school has 38 bachelor-degree programme and 62 diploma or certificate programme, and all the undergraduate 4-year programme is eligible for conferral of bachelor degrees. The programme of Computer Science and Technology was approved as national characteristic programme, and the programme of New Energy Science and Engineering, and Military Law Science was listed as "Twelfth Five-year" key disciplines in Jiangxi province. There are six characteristic programs at the provincial level, four provincial excellent courses, two provincial training bases for talents, three provincial pioneer teaching demonstration center and one national training base. Two projects was awarded the second prize for Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress, two projects won the first prizes for Provincial Excellent Teaching Achievements and one got the first prize for Provincial Excellent Social Science Achievements. The school has 19 national patents in total.
