About College of New Energy and Environmental Engineering

China has continuously increased its support and investment in the development of new energy sources such as solar energy in recent years. The National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology and other ministries and commissions have also formulated macro policies and regulations to provide strong support for the development and application of new energy technologies. Thousands of domestic enterprises have set foot in new energy. In order to meet the needs for the talents of national strategic new photovoltaic industry and new energy, the College of Solar Photoelectric Engineering was founded in 2008. The  college then has developed rapidly with the strong support of Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Government, Provincial Department of Education and school leaders. In 2013, the college was renamed the College of New Energy Science and Engineering in accordance with the undergraduate professional catalog of the Ministry of Education. In 2014, the College of New Energy Science and Engineering and the College of Bio-Environmental Engineering merged to form the College of New Energy and Environmental Engineering because of the disciplines construction planning and adjustment of the Institute.

The college currently has six undergraduate majors, including Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, New Energy Science and Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, Bioengineering, Environmental Engineering, and Applied Chemistry; and has four majors for associate degrees, namely Photovoltaic Power Generation Technology and Application, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Environmental Planning and Management, and Food Quality and Management.

The college has a faculty pool of 51 with rich teaching experience and strong scientific research ability, 29.34% of which are with senior professional titles and 63.04% are masters and doctors. Among them, there is a provincial lever teaching team, including one discipline leader of Materials Science, one member of Thousand Talents Plan, one backbone teacher among young and middle-aged teachers, one Advanced Individual in Teaching and Education, and four outstanding young teachers in the Institute. In recent years, the college has undertaken 10 provincial teaching and research projects, published more than 100 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals, applied for more than 30 patents, and edited or participated in the compilation of 6 textbooks. Thus the college has been awarded the honorary title of Advanced Scientific Research Group for many times.

The college has also equipped with perfect teaching facilities, two experimental and practical teaching centers, which include 21 teaching experiments and training rooms ( one is the Provincial Key Laboratory), with a total area of about 2680 square meters and a total value of 26.284 million yuan of experimental equipment. It has then established a stable training and employment base with 21 enterprises and public institution , creating conditions for professional experimental practice.

The college is committed to training high-quality practical talents with morality, solid foundation and innovation, and pays attention to the cooperation between school and enterprise and the combination of production, teaching and research. The students trained can adapt to the needs of social and economic development. The employment rate of previous graduates is more than 92%. Many graduates have become the backbone of various enterprise and public institution .

Main achievements: 1. In 2010, the teaching team of Photoelectric Information Engineering (photovoltaic direction) was established as the provincial level teaching team. 2. In 2011, New Energy Science and Engineering was approved as the key  discipline of Jiangxi Province during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. In 2015, it successfully passed the final examination for key disciplines. 3. In 2012, the discipline of New Energy Science and Engineering was funded1 million yuan by Jiangxi provincial Special Fund for Private Education . 4. In 2013, the discipline of New Energy Science and Engineering was approved as the Comprehensive Reform Pilot Project in Universities in Jiangxi Province". 5. In 2014, the key laboratory of solar photovoltaic materials was approved as Jiangxi Key Laboratory. 6. The students have obtained excellent results in Challenge Cup, mathematical modeling and electronic contest.

All faculties and students of the college are guided by the philosophy of Hangtian science and education to revitalize China, to earnestly practice the school motto of scientific, realistic, moral and innovative, and always strive to build a first-class private university led by the goal of quality for survival, innovation for development.
