Nanchang Institute of Technology founded the major of industrial robot in 2017. It is the first college in Jiangxi province and the second batch in China to set up this major. This major is the key construction specialty of the institute, and is now managed by the College of Electronics and Information.
This major adheres to the principle of following the market, takes the demand of enterprise talents as the guidance, fills in the blank of talent cultivation, and strives to serve the local economic development; it has formed the school running characteristics of cultivating interdisciplinary and compound high-tech application talents with the skills of industrial robot installation, debugging, maintenance and operation training relying on the school enterprise cooperation mechanism.
I. Being Guided by the Demand of Enterprise Talents and Following the Market Closely
The College of Electronics and Information has long adhered to the market demand to cultivate talents. It has established a stable cooperative relationship with TCL mobile communication Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Oufei Optical Technology Co., Ltd., yingyida Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangxi Lianchuang Electronic Co., Ltd., and each year a certain number of fresh graduates are selected to the above-mentioned technical support positions to participate in the internship; the college regularly selects teachers to the above-mentioned enterprises for research. Through the investigation, it is known that with the introduction of the 13th Five Year Plan for the development of robot industry and the 13th Five Year Plan for intelligent manufacturing and the continuous improvement of human resource cost, the enterprise has launched the "machine replacement" plan, and all kinds of industrial robots have been widely used. The "machine replacement" plan not only saves production costs and improves product quality, but also brings about technical problems. Due to the complexity of industrial robot technology, enterprises need a large number of industrial robots debugging, maintenance and operation training personnel. However, the graduates trained by secondary and higher vocational colleges can only meet the operation requirements of industrial robots and cannot solve the problem. At that time, there was no domestic university offering undergraduate education on industrial robot, which formed a "Vacuum Layer" on talents.
Through the investigation, the leaders of the college and the Institute organized many discussions and demonstrations. Everyone agreed that industrial robot, as the most cutting-edge technology field in the current manufacturing industry, has become the most popular industrial application technology with the "Made in China 2025" strategy and the concept of "Industry 4.0". In the demand of industrial robot professionals, the largest demand is for basic operation and maintenance personnel and application engineers who master the debugging, maintenance and internal training technology of industrial robots. Therefore, the university decided to apply for the undergraduate robot engineering major, which aims at training application engineers engaged in installation, debugging, maintenance and operation training in the field of industrial robots.
II. Adjusting and Filling the Gap of Talent Training and Serving the Local Economic Development
With the continuous increase of labor cost in coastal areas, more and more manufacturing enterprises transfer to the mainland. Nanchang , is close to Guangdong, Fujian and other manufacturing developed provinces, and is an ideal area for related enterprises to transfer to the mainland. According to the information released by Jiangxi Provincial People's government, Nanchang high tech Zone will become the first robot and intelligent manufacturing equipment industrial base in Jiangxi Province. According to the plan, in the next five years, Jiangxi Province will implement 4000 "Machine Replacement" projects every year, and realize 400 billion yuan of related investment. Under the mode of joint construction of provinces and cities, our province will also invest 200 million yuan to support the technological transformation focusing on "Replacing People with Machines". With Nanchang high tech Zone as the core, it will radiate the surrounding areas, and specially approve 2000 acres of industrial construction land index and 20 million yuan of financial funds to reward industrial investment and backbone enterprises. Under the strong support of relevant policies, the manufacturing enterprises that move into our province need a large number of industrial robot technical talents, but there is no enterprise university specialized in training industrial robot technology talents at undergraduate level in our province. Therefore, the opening of robot engineering major in our university fills the gap in talent training in our province, which is of great significance to meet the talent demand of enterprises in our province and serve the local economy.
Up to now, our college has reached the orientation training intention with Nanchang Oufei biometric technology Co., Ltd. and Jiangxi smart Haipai Communication Technology Co., Ltd., and the above enterprises will give priority to the employment of our school's robot engineering graduates and provide sufficient internship positions.
III. Adhering to School Enterprise Cooperation in Running a college and Cultivating Interdisciplinary and Compound High-tech Applied Talents
Training application-oriented high-tech talents is the consistent goal of the college. This major adheres to the school enterprise cooperation as an important way to improve students' practical work ability. It has formed the school running characteristics of cultivating interdisciplinary and compound high-tech application talents with the skills of industrial robot installation, debugging, maintenance and operation based on the school enterprise cooperation mechanism. It is embodied in the following aspects:
(1)Teaching facilities. On the basis of extensive research, the college has introduced a large number of industrial robot equipment which are identical with the enterprise production line, and has established the industrial robot and intelligent manufacturing training center.
(2)Teaching staff. The college has selected excellent teachers to participate in technical training in ABB (China) Co., Ltd. and other enterprises which are widely used in industrial robots, such as yingyida Technology Co., Ltd. We have also selected and hired for enterprises the provincial tens of millions of talents project candidates Dr. Fan Ruixiang, Shenzhen high-level professional and technical personnel Dr. Zhong Jilin and other outstanding talents in the field of industrial robots to join the professional teachers.
(3)Curriculum system. The college organized professional teachers to carry out a number of research on a wide range of enterprises using industrial robots in and out of the province during the summer vacation, and closely combined with the technical needs of enterprises, set up more than 20 courses involving electronics, computers, machinery and other disciplines, including industrial robot power, programming, control and other fields and some courses are also planned to be offered in cooperation between schools and enterprises, to transfer the classroom to the production line of enterprises, and to adopt the method of teaching while explaining and operating,
(4)Teaching material construction. We have reached a cooperation intention with China Machinery Industry Press and Huahang Weishi Robot Technology Co., Ltd. to jointly compile textbooks that meet the needs of the industry.
Up to now, the teaching staff of this major has a scale, the teaching equipment meets the needs of personnel training, the professional construction plan is highly implementable, and the school enterprise cooperation idea is clear. In 2017, 43 students were enrolled for the first time in our school, and the development prospects are good. The college has the determination and ability to build this major into a leading and influential specialty in the province.
