The College of Foreign Languages was founded in 1999 and currently offers three majors for undergraduate and one major for junior college of three-year program. Undergraduate major includes English, translation and Japanese; three-year program is Business English.
There are 1,329 students in the Foreign Languages College, which has qualified teachers in various disciplines, and has a teaching and research team with profound professional knowledge, rich teaching experience, and relatively reasonable title , age and academic background structure. There are 117 teachers in our college, (105 full-time teachers, 12 part-time teachers), of whom there are 14 full-time teachers with doctoral degrees, 4 teachers who are studying for doctoral degree, 17 teachers with senior professional titles, 19 teachers with associate senior professional titles, and 3 double-qualified professors. There are 62 full-time teachers with master's degree or doctor’s degree, accounting for 59.05%, and 36 teachers with senior professional titles, accounting for 30.76%.
The College of Foreign Languages has a complete teaching equipment system with 22 multimedia classrooms, 2 language labs, 1 autonomous learning center, 1 simultaneous interpretation training center, 141,687 books and materials, and a total value of more than 3.2 million yuan for teaching equipment which is sufficient for the teaching requirement of all the majors in our school. At the same time, our college has vigorously strengthened the construction of teaching and scientific research. In the past five years, the College of Foreign Languages has made outstanding achievements in scientific research. 404 papers have been published in journals above the provincial level, including 54 papers in core journals, and 7 published textbooks have been written by the teachers. And 28 projects above the provincial level have been approved. Faculty and staff have 13 invention patents, and teachers have won 79 various awards above the provincial level. Students have won 47 various awards above the provincial level, and 22 internship training bases have been established. Currently, our college is actively preparing to apply for master degree program of English language and literature.
The full-time teachers of the College of Foreign Languages have high professional quality, wide range of knowledge, strong teaching ability, and outstanding performance. Many teachers have won the title of "Excellent Teacher" of the institute. The students have won special prizes, first,second and third prizes in various English contests for college students. In 2010, the English major for undergraduate of the College of Foreign Languages was included in the provincial special major development scheme; in 2011, the extensive reading course of the College of Foreign Languages was rated as a provincial-level excellent course; in 2012, the College of Foreign Languages passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education; in 2013, "Research on Elementary English Teaching Reform in Private Colleges and Universities" hosted by the dean of Professor LI Fagen won first prize of Jiangxi Province Teaching Achievement Award; in 2015, it achieved excellent results in the evaluation of English undergraduates in Jiangxi Province; in 2016, two teachers from our college, GONG Lingfen and YANG Wei, guided SU Shanshan to participate in national universities innovative and entrepreneurial training project (design of ear-picking artifact), and successfully passed the approval of the Ministry of Education; in 2017, WANG Yuanhe, guided by teacher CAO Xiangying, won special prize in the National College English Contest (Jiangxi Division) and second price in the national finals. in 2017, the teacher team led by teacher GONG Lingfen won first prize of the national micro-class competition; in 2018, the student ZHOU Liang guided by teacher LI Hui won special prize in the 9th "Foreign Language Teaching and Research Cup" English Writing Contest of National Vocational College(Jiangxi Division), and won second prize in the National Finals (English Major) competition. In order to improve students' practical ability in English, the College of Foreign Languages holds a large-scale English speech contest every year to cultivate and create a learning atmosphere from various aspects to improve students' language application ability. In 2018, our college successfully passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education.
